Assistant Financial Accountant

About the Role:

Working closely with the Senior Financial Accountant and Finance manager, the individual will be responsible for month-end /year-end closing, intercompany recharges, and balance sheet control across various entities in the LMAX Group. The role shall also contribute towards internal and external stakeholder reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journals for accruals, prepayments and client liability postings allocated for the Group entities.
  • Ensure allocated balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled each month for all entities within the Group in Blacklines.
  • Maintain the Fixed asset register and reconciliation for the Group and subsidiaries.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly VAT, VAT MOSS return and annual PSA return working.
  • Prepare workings for intercompany management recharges and ensure intercompany invoices are prepared and posted on accounting system via Concur.
  • Maintain internal policy for intercompany loan arrangements and intercompany interest calculations.
  • Support the Accounts receivable function for customer invoice allocation against the receipts in SUN Systems.
  • Assist with Group annual audit process and tax compliance requests.
  • Provide support for analysing actual spend vs budget/reforecast.
  • Provide cover for cohorts and other colleagues when required.
  • Assist in the preparation of ONS statistical returns.
  • Maintain up to date documentation and process notes for the finance functions.
  • Complete other ad-hoc tasks, projects, and financial analysis to support management.

Requirements:

Essential Skills:

  • Good understanding of accounting concepts and double entry.
  • Working knowledge of Sun Systems
  • Microsoft excels including basic functions such as XLookUp, Pivot tables, SUMIF formulas.
  • Must be a fluent communicator in English with aptitude to be able to resolve internal stakeholders and external supplier queries.
  • Diligence and attention to detail while managing workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organisation and interpersonal skills
  • Part qualified or studying towards completing a professional accounting qualification e.g ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
  • Prior experience of working in a similar function within a fintech or capital markets industry.
  • Experience in using Blacklines reconciliation and Concur Invoice & expense management.
  • Advanced excel skills include macros and VBA
