The Network Engineer at LMAX Group plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our 24/7 low-latency trading environment. You will collaborate with Systems, Information Security, and Development teams to ensure that business objectives are met effectively. This position requires not only technical expertise but also excellent communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


Requirements:

  • Genuine enthusiasm for Networks and Open Source.
  • Operationally focused with a systematic problem-solving approach and a keen sense of ownership and drive.
  • Practical approach to managing time and workload to ensure that tasks required are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to operate within a global team.
  • A clear understanding for Routing and Switching including protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, DHCP, VRRP.
  • Experience supporting multi-vendor routing / switching environments (Arista, Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet)
  • An understanding of Firewall operations, configuration and management, primarily Palo Alto and Fortigate.
  • Experience working in large Data Centre environments, hands-on with hardware: installation, patching, fibre, UTP
  • A good understanding of the Linux operating system, in particular Ubuntu and Redhat.
  • Exposer to OSS monitoring systems (e.g. Nagios, Observium, Prometheus)
  • Exposer to scripting and automation using tool such as Netbox, Ansible, Puppet, Bash, Python, GIT.

Desirable Skills / Experience:

  • Familiarity with Agile and/or DevOps methodologies.
