Network Engineer

Description:

The Network Engineer role provides the opportunity to push networking to the edge of its capabilities as we maintain a 24/7 low latency trading environment. You will work very closely with the Systems, Information Security and Development teams to ensure business objective are met. The ideal candidate for this role should possess excellent communication skills, be proactive, and able to work both independently, within a team and with external parties.


Requirements:

  • Operationally focused with a systematic problem-solving approach an a keen sense of ownership
    and drive.
  • Practical approach to managing time and workload to ensure that tasks required are completed
    in a timely fashion.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills to communicate with a global team.
  • A clear understanding for Routing and Switching:  TCP/IP, BGP, IS-IS, MPLS VPNs, EVPN,
    Multicast and Spanning-Tree.
  • Experience supporting multi-vendor routing / switching environments (Arista, Juniper, Cisco, Palo
    Alto, Fortinet)
  • Firewall operations, configuration and management, Primarily Palo Alto and Fortigate.
  • Data Centre experience and hands-on with hardware: installation, patching, fibre, UT
  • A good understanding of the Linux operating system, in particular Ubuntu and Redhat.
  • Experience with OSS monitoring systems (e.g. Nagios, Observium, OpenNMS
  • Good troubleshooting skills and usage of tcpdump/wireshark
  • Experience with scripting and automation Netbox, Ansible, Puppet, Bash, Python, GIT.

Desirable Skills / Experience:

  • Experience with Agile, and/or DevOps methodologies
